Ask the nurse Participants can
take advantage of one-on-one time with our experienced oncology
nurse. She can help with treatment and post-treatment information &
issues, as well as symptom management. Available in person, by
phone, or emails. For participants and caregivers. |

| Assorted Support Group
Our support group program is built on the present
need of our participants.
Examples of groups we have/are offering include:
- Caregiver support group
- Men’s support group
- Back on Track- a group aimed to support those who are 3 months
post treatment
- Think Smart Live Well- a psycho-educations, life skills group
- Peer support group (on going)
- In treatment group
- Wellness groups for children( either who have cancer or have
someone they love who has cancer)
- Etc.

Journaling
Journaling is a term coined for the
practice of keeping a diary or journal that explores thoughts and feelings
surrounding the events of one’s life.

Services support the BODY
| Open Gym – w/Personal trainer
The WICWC gym is specifically
designed to be easily transferable – all of our equipment is simple and light
and easy for you to purchase so that you may practice your exercises in your
home when you aren’t able to come to the Centre. |
Nutritional Cooking
Classes Class designed to discuss and
teach healthy food choices and delicious food preparations.

Walking group
Yoga
This beginner-level yoga is very gentle &
relaxing, and sensitive to the needs of those with cancer. For
hygienic reasons, please bring their own mats, blankets and or
towels, and water bottle. |
Making Healthy Creams
and Lotions – Workshop In this workshop,
participants will be given the opportunity to learn how to create
creams and lotions. Natural products will be used in the creation of
the products.

Services to support the
human SPIRIT
| Expression through
Art A six week session in which
participants are guided through the expression of their emotions
into various art forms. The setting is very relaxed. No artistic
talent is necessary.
|
Garden Club
An open group, meaning participants can join and attend at any time.
Its goal is to promote relaxation through gardening and to help
beautify our outdoor space. We will also be planting a vegetable
garden with the harvest being used as ingredients for our nutrition
and cooking classes!

| FUN times
A special time for our participants when cancer can
be ’forgotten’, and they can enjoy various activities in an
atmosphere of fun and optimism. A humorous penalty is imposed when
the “C” word is spoken! .

Therapeutic Touch and
Healing Touch A modern version of
several healing practices and is a safe, gentle, non-invasive
technique. The main functions of Therapeutic Touch are relaxation
and pain reduction, thereby enhancing the body’s natural healing
process. The duration of a treatment is 20 minutes followed by a 10
minute rest period.

| Meditation
Experience a relaxed inner-calm, greater serenity,
improved sleep and lessen pain, lower anxiety, decrease mind
“chatter”, and boost energy levels. This 5-week course (1 hour per
week) introduces you to basic meditation techniques and teaches you
to focus your mind to stay the present moment.
|
Integrated Energy
Therapy (I.E.T) Acts to detect and
release energy blocks by placing pressure on key integration points.
|
| Qigong (PRONOUNCED
CHI GONG) Qigong combines meditation,
slow walking accompanied by arm movements, and slow and steady
breathing exercises. It is an ancient Chinese holistic healing
system that uses exercises to increase energy, reduce fatigue, and
to develop one’s healing power.

Reflexology
A massage for the feet that gently presses on
strategic points to clear blockages, and brings energy through the
body.
|
| Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction
and relaxation; it can be compared to a full body massage without
touching. A Reiki session promotes a state of deep relaxation,
combined with a general feeling of well-being. This is done in a
private session and appointments are booked in advance.
|
Lymphedemic therapy
A form of massage that helps with the swelling due to abnormal
build-up of fluid in body tissues. It can develop when the lymphatic
system is improperly developed or damaged through trauma or injury.
The lymphatic system plays an important role in the immune system
and helps maintain the balance of fluids in the body.
