Services to support the human SPIRIT

Expression through Art

A six week session in which participants are guided through the expression of their emotions into various art forms. The setting is very relaxed. No artistic talent is necessary.

Garden Club

An open group, meaning participants can join and attend at any time. Its goal is to promote relaxation through gardening and to help beautify our outdoor space. We will also be planting a vegetable garden with the harvest being used as ingredients for our nutrition and cooking classes!

FUN times

A special time for our participants when cancer can be ’forgotten’, and they can enjoy various activities in an atmosphere of fun and optimism. A humorous penalty is imposed when the “C” word is spoken! .

Therapeutic Touch and Healing Touch

A modern version of several healing practices and is a safe, gentle, non-invasive technique. The main functions of Therapeutic Touch are relaxation and pain reduction, thereby enhancing the body’s natural healing process. The duration of a treatment is 20 minutes followed by a 10 minute rest period.

Meditation

Experience a relaxed inner-calm, greater serenity, improved sleep and lessen pain, lower anxiety, decrease mind “chatter”, and boost energy levels. This 5-week course (1 hour per week) introduces you to basic meditation techniques and teaches you to focus your mind to stay the present moment.

Integrated Energy Therapy (I.E.T)

Acts to detect and release energy blocks by placing pressure on key integration points.

Qigong (PRONOUNCED CHI GONG)

Qigong combines meditation, slow walking accompanied by arm movements, and slow and steady breathing exercises. It is an ancient Chinese holistic healing system that uses exercises to increase energy, reduce fatigue, and to develop one’s healing power.

Reflexology

A massage for the feet that gently presses on strategic points to clear blockages, and brings energy through the body.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation; it can be compared to a full body massage without touching. A Reiki session promotes a state of deep relaxation, combined with a general feeling of well-being. This is done in a private session and appointments are booked in advance.

Lymphedemic therapy

A form of massage that helps with the swelling due to abnormal build-up of fluid in body tissues. It can develop when the lymphatic system is improperly developed or damaged through trauma or injury. The lymphatic system plays an important role in the immune system and helps maintain the balance of fluids in the body.
