“For the past 7 months I have
had the privilege of being a participant at the West Island Cancer
Wellness Center. The Center has been a quiet refuge in the midst of
a life storm. I was diagnosed with cancer, had surgery, then
treatment, and tossed back into my life. On the outside I looked
“normal”. On the inside, I was lost. Cancer comes with a stigma that
I was not aware of. The WICWC has been a cornerstone of my recovery.
I have had access to a nurse, nutrition classes, journal writing, a
trainer, reflexology, reiki, therapeutic touch, and meditation
classes. The lectures, library, workshops, have all enabled me to
move toward a healthy physical and mental recovery. An important
element for me, in all of this, is that there is no charge for
anything. The Wellness Center has changed my life. Thank you, thank
